YH came back to the hotel after his visit to the museum... On his way back he took a photo of the road bumps (a series of small round bumps) in Merida...

I was feeling a little better and we went out around 3pm to Centro as there were some buildings which we wanted to visit... When we got down the bus, we saw this cute "washing machine" outside a shop... =p

Church of Jesus or of the Third Order, a very old church in Merida... It was closed when we were there and after asking around we were told it will be open at 6pm. Hence ,we proceeded to visit other places first..

We walked over to the Teatro Peon Contreras which was just beside the Church... It is the oldest and most beautiful theater in Merida... Very nice exterior and interior!! =)

Then we paid a visit to the Autonomous University of Yucatan - main building... When we entered the building we were greeted by a very nice courtyard...

Parque de la Maternidad during day time...

Young girls selling Mexican Shawls... You see them around the main plaza area and along Calle 60 in Centro...

Next, we went to TequilerÃa Ajua, a liquor store...

Shelves of liquor in the store... We bought a bottle of Xtabentún, which is a locally made liquor flavored with anise and honey... We think that it tasted quite nice!! =)

Then, we went into a store named Miniatures... It specializes in miniatures (Mexican folk art) from around Mexico and there were lots of them inside the tiny store...

We also went to the state-run Casa de Las Artesanias and bought some souvenirs there... It is a rather large store and carries a large variety of items...

Some of the items sold in the store...

After souvenir shopping we went for dinner at a restaurant name La Chaya Maya...

The open concept kitchen and a lady making tortillas at a corner in the restaurant...

We each had a Chaya drink and on the right are the complimentary starters...

Us in the lovely restaurant...

Our appetizer - Salbutes (corn tortilla topped with shredded turkey, lettuce, pickled red onion, tomatoes and a slice of avocado).

I had Tradicion Yucateca (dish offering panuchom relleno negro taco, vaporcito made with chaya and cochinita taco) so that we could sample 4 different stuff... YH had Queso Relleno (a ball of edam cheese carved out hollow and filled with raisin, capper flavored ground pork. A sliced of this stuffed cheese is served over a bed of ground pork and finished with a white sauce)... Very nice!! =)

Our desserts - Dulce de papaya (Candied papaya) and Pastel atropellado (Sweet potato and coconut cake). I liked the cake!! =)

Cute napkin holder on the table and the check came in a henequen bag...

The streets at downtown as we walked back to visit the Church after dinner...

When we reached the Church, a wedding ceremony was about to happen and we did not think it was appropriate for us to enter it. Hence we only stood near the side doors to take some photos of the interior which was really nice! Did not manage to take much photos to show the beautiful interior...

Wedding party getting ready to enter the Church...

The main door...

We passed the Church of Santa Ana on our way to take the bus. Coincidentally a wedding was also going on at this Church and we managed to have a look at its interior. It was simpler in comparison...

Then we went to Fiesta Mexicana at the beginning of the Paseo Montejo...

Some vendors along the passageway...

Large Christmas tree in the area...

Me sitting on a reindeer sleigh... Luckily YH took the photo fast enough as a moment later a group of kids climbed up and I had no choice but to let them have the area...

There was a performance on the stage but we did not stay to watch it as it was in Spanish... =( Guess it had something to do with Christmas as there was a Santa Claus on stage... Beside the stage are food stalls and the area in front were tables and chairs for people to sit and enjoy their food...

Man selling lots of balloon... He is usually seen at the Main Plaza area and YH said he saw him walking here when we were on the bus
