The next day, we had breakfast at our hotel before we started making our way to Great Smoky Mountains. Along the way, we stopped at Wild Turkey Distillery at Lawrenceburg, KY.
However, a race called Bourbon Chase happened to be at the distillery too. It is an interesting race because participants traveled to different distilleries in Kentucky and ran there in 2 days. Because of the race, we could only visit the warehouse where they aged the bourbon for the distillery tour and could not visit the distillery..
After the distillery tour, we were each given the choice to try two shots from a selection of their alcohol products.
After the visit to the distillery, we had lunch at Gumbo Ya-Ya at Lexington, KY.
Wendy had Maque Choux while I had The Yatwich. They were great and tasted delicious.
After lunch, we continued on our journey and we made a stop at Harland Sanders Café & Museum (the birthplace of KFC) at Corbin, KY.
We finally reached Gatlinburg, TN (a town next to Great Smoky Mountains) in the late afternoon after getting stuck in a traffic jam from Sevierville, TN to Gatlinburg, TN for close to 2 hours. In addition to road works, there are so many people traveling to Great Smoky Mountains.
At Gatlinburg, we went to Gatlinburg Welcome Center where we got some maps and information as well as buying the Smokies Starter Kit (a variety of publications to help us get started exploring Great Smoky Mountains).
Next, we drove to Pigeon Forge, TN where we went for a walk around Historic Old Mill Square and had dinner at The Old Mill Pottery House Café & Grille.

For appetizer, we had Fried Green Tomatoes. For entrées, I had Captain Al's Fried Catfish Fillets and Wendy had Old Mill Breaded Chicken Tenders.
After dinner, we checked into our hotel (Days Inn) and called it a day.
