2010 Chicago Trip - Day 2 - Downtown, Art Institute of Chicago and Dinner

After cycling, we walked around the bean area for a while...

Then, we walked over to the Chicago Cultural Center...
Very nice interior...

Plus it has the world's largest Tiffany stained-glass dome, which is really stunning!

Then, we went to Chinatown and had some snacks at 万事达饼家. As usual we had 蛋挞,菠萝包 and 豆花. Yummy!! =) We wanted 豆浆 too but it was sold out and the 豆花 was the last one!
Us taking a break in the cafe and I was really glad for the rest...

At the Cermak-Chinatown "El" station where we headed back to downtown...
View from the station...

We alighted at the station near John Hancock Center and walked towards it...

John Hancock Center...

Our reason for going to John Hancock was for Jamba Juice! A nice and refreshing treat on a hot and sunny day! =)
Waiting to order our drinks...

We rested a while as my legs were really tired from the cycling... Happy faces as we drank our Jamba Juice! =p I had Caribbean Passion while YH had Peach Pleasure.

Interesting sculpture with lots of shoes stuffed with grass...

We also went to Tribune Tower to take a look at the rocks and bricks that were from a variety of historically important sites throughout the world...
These are some of the rocks... Amazing!

They are found all around the exterior walls of the building... Funny we did not notice them the first time we were here...

Some photos taken at the Chicago river...

In the evening, we went to the Art Institute of Chicago as it was free every Thursday from 5pm - 8pm. There was a really long line outside when we reached!

Me taking a rest as my feet were aching...

Me outside the Art Institute of Chicago building... Should have stood on the other side of the lion... =p

We had a late dinner that day at Buona, a restaurant near the hotel... They serve sandwiches and pizza...
Waiting for our food...

YH had Buffalo Chicken (tomato, bleu cheese, ranch dressing and homemade buffalo sauce) plus soup...

I had Italiano (Italian sub with thin slices of Genoa salami, Provolone, capicola, Mortadella, marinated tomato, sliced pepperoncini & lettuce on our own just baked Italian bread)...

Then, we went back to the hotel and managed to get our new room with a King size bed... Good thing the hotel was able to change our room! =) Everything else was about the same...
