A Day in Chicago

We went to Chicago for a day on Saturday... We were there to watch the USA vs Honduras World Cup Qualifying Match at night but went early so that we could walk around Chicago downtown before the match... But first we went to Chinatown for lunch at Joy Yee Noodle...

Us posing with our food...

Close up of our food - Duck Noodle Soup and Beef Udon... Yummy!! =)

The gigantic bubble teas... I had mango milk tea and YH had peanut milk tea... However my mango milk tea did not really look and taste like those milk teas back home. Probably because it was blended with real mango fruit. But it was still nice!! =)

Then we walked along Michigan Avenue... This is the large Macy's Store on State Street with massive and elegant clocks on the building...

The largest flag ever to hang in a department store displayed in Macy's from May 22 - July 6. The flag is 5000 sq feet...

The Tiffany Ceiling - it is the largest unbroken example of Tiffany Favrile glass in the world, containing over 1.6 million pieces...

John Hancock Center at North Michigan Avenue is 100 levels and 1127 feet (344 metres) tall...

Old Water Tower in North Michigan Avenue. It is the second-oldest water tower in the United States and it is one of the buildings that survived the Great Chicago Fire of 1871...

Walking along Michigan Avenue...

We went in The Disney Store...

Me happily taking photos with Mickey & Minnie and Pooh! =) So tempted to buy them...

Then we also went into the Apple store...

Busker along Michigan Avenue...

Newspapers stand...

The Chicago Tribune Tower... It is completed in 1925 and its design was inspired by the Gothic cathedrals of Europe... The tower has been designated a landmark by the City of Chicago...

We walked pass an Art Fest and went to have a look... It is basically a few rows of white tents where people display their stuff for sale...

We tried the cheese and caramel mix popcorn at Garret Popcorn... It was extremely yummy but sinful too! =p They should have such flavours of popcorn in SG...

We walked over to Millennium Park and there was the Chicago Gospel Music Festival at Wrigley Square... We stopped to listen for a while...

The crowded that gathered to listen...

We visited The Bean again... The left is a very nice drawing of it which was not there in March...

Jay Pritzker Pavilion where free concerts and events are held...

Contemporary Sculptures from China displayed at the Millennium Park...
Kowtow Pump by Shen Shaomin. It consists of several oil derricks covered in camouflage and are motorized at different speeds...

Windy City Dinosaur by Sui Jianguo. It is a near-actual-size T-Rex with “Made In China” attached to its stomach...

Valiant Struggle by Chen Wenling...

Jia Shan Shi No. 46 by Zhan Wang. It is a stainless-steel copy of a Chinese scholar stone, which, in its original form, is used for meditation...

The Crown Fountain with water this time... We were there in March and there was no water...

A couple taking wedding photos at the tower on the other side...

Model of the City of Chicago at the Chicago Architecture Foundation...

El train zooming pass above us...

It was actually a rather cold day in Chicago due to the chilling winds... The temperature dropped as the day went by... It even rained and we had to seek shelter in Borders as it was too heavy at one point... We had not expected it to be that cold and I only brought my thinnest jacket with me... We had only brought the jackets "just in case" and I was extremely glad with that decision... Though I hoped I had brought a thicker one... =p One can never underestimate the weather in the Windy City...
