Korea 2011 - From Korea to USA

We had 3 flight delays when we flew from USA to Korea. The journey back to Indianapolis was even more eventful as we missed a connecting flight.

After we arrived at Incheon International Airport, we proceeded to our departure gate and boarded our plane.

The flight from Incheon to Los Angeles was a little late but there were not much delay at the customs, so we though we should have sufficient time (about 1.5 hours) to get to our next connecting flight to Chicago. However, one of our luggage did not arrive, so we could not pass through the baggage check. Hence, we could not check in the rest of our luggage and take our connecting flight. By the time it was confirmed that one of our luggage was still back in Korea, we had already missed our connecting flight. Luckily, the lady at the counter was nice and gave us two options.
  1. Stay a night at LA and fly to Chicago the next morning and then to Indianapolis. They will pay for accommodation and meals.
  2. Fly to Chicago on the next available flight and spend the night in the airport before flying back in Indianapolis the next day.
We chose option 1 because we had to spend the night anyway. We might as well sleep in the hotel. The lady   managed to book Hilton Hotel near the airport for us and provided us with meal vouchers. After that, we made our way to the hotel.

After we checked in our hotel, we went to have lunch at the Bristo in the hotel. We have a friend staying in LA, so I contacted her and her husband for dinner before taking a rest in our room.

It was dinner time and we were preparing to go out to meet our friends. I went to the bathroom and guessed what? I felt a pinch on my sole and on closer inspection, I saw a large sewing needle (about 7-cm long) stuck to my sole. Apparently, the needle was lying on the carpet in the room and the needle just pierced into my sole. I pulled out the needle and large amount of blood gusted out from the puncture wound. We had to call the manager for first-aid kit and bandages. After cleaning my wound and applying bandages, I walked out limping to meet my friends.

We had dinner at Hakata Ramen Shinsengumi and dessert at Pinkberry. We had fun catching up and chatting.

They drove us back to our hotel where we went to get some supper from the Bristo. We were not really hungry but we still bought some food so that we could have some food for our flights the next day.

The next morning, we woke up early and had breakfast at the Bristo before proceeding to the airport for our flight to Chicago.
